freck|le «FREHK uhl», noun, verb, -led, -ling.
–n.
one of the small, light-brown spots that some people have on the skin; lentigo. They are sometimes produced by exposure to the sun.
–v.t.
to make freckles on; cover with freckles.
–v.i.
to become marked or spotted with freckles.
[probably alteration of Middle English frecken, perhaps < Scandinavian (compare Old Icelandic frecknur, plural)]
